The Legacy of Notorious Nu

I am the dreamer and this is my tale.
Listen to me and listen well!
For the story that I will relate to you,
Is the Legacy of Notorious Nu.

In the year of our Lord 19 and 20,
Education was scarce and danger was plenty!
Racism was rampant and despair was high,
One needed a bond like Kappa Alpha Psi.

At Indianapolistown a dream became real,
Its mission a charge hard to fulfill.
To find men of color, of valor and will,
Give them brotherhood, purpose and academic skill.

Men who will die for what they believe,
Train them as leaders and to achieve!
The Nu chapter tested their mettle and dare,
And taught them survival when life wasn’t fair.

There were lessons of love, of pain, and strife.
And some lessons remembered the rest of your life!
The lessons we learned were expensive but true.
And we all shared a love for the Notorious Nu.

The symbols of Kappa, the Diamond, the Shield,
Are worn by my brothers across many fields.
We are doctors, lawyers, engineers, and police,
Educators, statesmen, entrepreneurs and priests.

Achievement our creed and with brotherhood true,
That’s the Legacy of Notorious Nu!
For Achievement, my brother, is worth more than gold!
It’s inspiration to many and nurtures one’s soul.

We pass on this treasure, my brother to you.
We pray you succeed in all that you try,
